Our Mission
The moment when doctors say ‘treating your child is impossible’ or ‘there is nothing else we can do – we have finished the treatment’ is an unimaginable tragedy for all parents who ever go through this. What’s next? The Wroclaw Hospice for Children Foundation helps in caring for an ill child. It is a home hospice – children are with their relatives at home, parents and caregivers benefit from the support of the staff and hospice specialists.
The first home Hospice for Children in Lower Silesia region
We are located in Wroclaw, but we operate throughout the entire Lower Silesia region. We travel where we are needed. We are available around the clock to help you control your pain, fear, and helplessness.
We help caring for children suffering from neurological, genetical, and oncological diseases, those who have suffered in accidents. We provide access to medical equipment, rehabilitate and mentally support children and their families. We give out gifts and make dreams come true – because a smile also heals!
100% of Lower Silesia – 1% for the Hospice
Help me, while I am here – these are the words we see in the eyes of our children. You too can help by donating 1% of your tax.
The Wroclaw Hospice for Children Foundation is a public benefit organization. When settling you PIT tax return, you can give us 1% of your tax – this is the basis of our budget. Thanks to your 1% donation, we buy medical equipment, hygiene products, and pay for rehabilitation. Thanks to your generosity, the help we offer our patients is free of charge.
Children
Children who are under the Hospice Care are exceptional! Each of them has their own character, talents, and abilities. Some like travelling by car, some prefer the train. Some enjoy playing games, others like to sing.
Every child under the hospice care is different and unique. The one thing they all have in common is their daily struggle with illness. Meetings with doctors, time spent in hospital, rehabilitation, drugs – this is a reality for them and their families. And although the kids seem to be weak on the outside, they all have an immense inner strength that helps them to conquer daily challenges. Despite daily challenges, children try to be cheerful and see the bright side of life.
Let meet our heroes – children who are under the care of Wroclaw Hospice for Children.
How do we help in the hospice?
The Foundation ‘Wroclaw Hospice for Children’ runs a home hospice. This means that ill children are in their own homes, getting the care and support they need through our 24/7 availability of specialists: doctors, nurses, psychologists, rehabilitators, and social workers.
Our hospice started its activity in 2002 as part of the Clinic of Bone Marrow Transplantation, Oncology and Paediatric Haematology of the Medical Academy in Wroclaw. In 2007, we transformed into a new, independent unit – the Wroclaw Hospice for Children Foundation. We became independent and expanded our existing team with a nurse, doctor, acquiring new equipment (mainly cars that we received from the Great Christmas Aid Orchestra) and we changed our work organization. All this allowed us to increase the number of visits we can make to our children from just a few to over 60 children in Wroclaw and Lower Silesia region. For several years, we have been supporting over 280 terminally ill children who do not yet require palliative care. At the moment, we support them on the social level, we rent equipment or provide rehabilitation, and we offer support to their parents and legal guardians during this difficult time.
